Revised National Curriculum Statement Grades R-9

The Revised National Curriculum Statement or 'RNCS' was approved on 15 April, 2002 and implemented in 2004, starting with Grade R (the reception year before Grade 1).

The RNCS provides guidelines on what should be taught from Grades R to 9. It specifies the required outcomes (or what is expected of learners in each grade and learning area) and the standards used to assess whether learners have achieved these outcomes. For further information, we offer:
A reference guide to the outcomes and assessment standards, arranged by:
- Grade (for a specific Grade, view each Learning Area)
- Learning Area (for a specific Learning Area, view the progression by Grade)
